This happened to me when I discovered Amatsu and as this is one of the things I am asked about most often, I'd like to share that story with you today.
While working, I had completed my training as a life coach and had been asked to go on an expedition with Raleigh International to work with the young people on the trip. I was excited, but there was a nagging feeling that it wasn't quite the right thing to do. I knew that I wanted to work with people, but this trip would mean giving up a secure job and really stepping into the unknown. I wasn't even sure what my role would be. I had also started to think that I really wanted to work on people's bodies as I had started to think that there was a lot of wisdom in the body that we don't access via talking. Most of the time at Ulpotha, I felt as though I had left the world behind, but some of these thoughts drifted through my mind as I swung in a hammock or watched the birds swoop overhead.
a chance meeting?
I massaged it, opened and closed my mouth and yet it was still stiff. It stayed like that the whole day. The evening came and we all gathered for dinner. I found Helene and asked her if what I had done to my big toe could have affected my jaw, expecting a baffled look. Helene simply asked me to sit down and felt around my toe and then up to my ankle.
'Your toe is fine' she said ' but you have affected your ankle. Did you rotate it gently as I showed you?'
I admitted that I had been a bit over-zealous. She started to work from my foot up to my ankle and as she did so, I could feel the tightness start to drain from my face. I was stunned.
Helene asked me to walk up and down along the outdoor corridor towards the kitchen, and I still remember that walk today as my mind was saying 'I have to know what she knows'. Everything had changed.
Once I had established that Helene wasn't a witch (!) and that I could train in Amatsu in the UK, I knew that I had found something special. I started training the following year.
